Contract: 2 years from December 2026

Remote Island Opportunity

Ascension Island Government is seeking an experienced Surgeon / Medical Officer to join its Health Services team, delivering high-quality primary and secondary medical care in one of the world’s most unique and remote healthcare settings.

Working at Georgetown Hospital, you will provide a broad range of surgical and medical services, including emergency and trauma care, inpatient management, outpatient clinics, and participation in a 24/7 on-call rota.

This is a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity for a clinician who thrives in an autonomous role with limited local support

Essential requirements

GMC registration (or equivalent recognised Medical Council registration)

Postgraduate qualification in General Surgery with Specialist Registration

Significant experience in General Surgery and Trauma Management

Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small multidisciplinary team

A clean valid driving licence
