Children and Families Social Worker – 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Location: Falkland Islands

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

We are recruiting an experienced and committed Children and Families Social Worker to join a dedicated Children’s Services team in the Falkland Islands on a 3-month fixed-term contract, starting in September 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake assessments of children and families in need of support and protection

Manage a varied caseload, including child in need, child protection and looked-after children cases
Develop, implement and review child-centred care and support plans

Work collaboratively with families, carers and partner agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children

Prepare reports and attend case conferences, court hearings and multidisciplinary meetings where required

Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with statutory and organisational requirements

Contribute to a supportive and effective multidisciplinary team environment

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

Relevant post-qualification experience within Children and Families Social Work

Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures and statutory guidance
Excellent assessment, communication and report-writing skills

Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload effectively

Commitment to delivering high-quality, child-focused social work practice
