Job Opportunity: Sonographer (General & Obstetrics) – Falkland Islands

Location: Falkland Islands
Duration: 2 – 4 years

We are seeking a Sonographer (General & Obstetrics) to join our hospital in the Falkland Islands. If you’re a qualified and experienced sonographer looking to experience life in a unique and stunning environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Work without clinical supervision
• Providing ultrasound service to the Falklands community include the MOD, the fishing fleet and visitors
• Follow departmental protocols & use professional judgement as to the requirements of individual cases
• Participate in screening programmes such as AAA screening
• To undertake ultrasound examinations of the required standard for the Antenatal clinic as necessary and provide a written report and plotting foetal growth on personalised charts
• To provide reports on all scans preformed
• Adhere to recognised codes of practise and responsibilities
• Demonstrate continuous professional development
• Attend relevant meetings if required to represent the Ultrasound Department
• Complete all mandatory training for the H&SS Directorate
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness of imaging department
• Laying out of supplies and room preparation for special procedures
• Report to relevant persons all matters, special problems or requirements
• Maintain stock levels
• Participate in QA and audit programmes
• Where performing general scans under clinical direction of medical officer provide a written report
• Knowledge of professional issues relating to:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Post graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound
BSC Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent 1st degree
2 years post qualification experience of scanning including obstetrics, gynaecology and general medical
Registration with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent national registration body
Quality assurance/audit experience
Experience of reporting scans autonomously
Experience of computerised systems to record and report ultrasound findings
Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
Basic plain radiography skills
