Obstetrics Consultant – Falkland Islands

Job Title: Consultant Obstetrician

Location: Falkland Islands

Duration: June 27th to August 16th

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Consultant Obstetrician to provide comprehensive obstetric care and expertise in the Falkland Islands for a temporary assignment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality obstetric services to women in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert obstetric care to pregnant women throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
Conduct routine antenatal examinations, including ultrasound scans, to monitor fetal development and maternal health.
Manage and oversee labor and delivery, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby.
Perform emergency obstetric procedures as necessary, including cesarean sections and instrumental deliveries.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
Offer guidance and support to expectant mothers and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal care.
Adhere to clinical protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice to maintain high-quality and safe obstetric services.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Medical degree from a recognised institution
Completion of specialist training in obstetrics and gynecology
GMC Registration
Current medical license in good standing
Proven experience working as a Consultant Obstetrician, preferably in a similar setting
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of obstetric best practices and procedures
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and support staff
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a remote and challenging setting
Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care
