The Role
The successful candidate will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality gastroenterology care across both elective and acute services. The position offers a structured job plan designed to support clinical excellence while also providing protected time for professional interests.
Job Plan Overview
6 clinical sessions
4 patient-facing sessions
2 non-patient-facing clinical sessions
2 non-clinical sessions dedicated to:
Research
Service development
Quality improvement
2 off sessions, with potential for private practice once vocationally registered
Participation in a 1:8 on-call rota
Salary & Benefits
Base salary: NZD $185,000 – $267,000 per annum, depending on years post-CCT
Most UK consultants with 5+ years’ experience typically earn NZD $220,000 – $250,000

Candidate Requirements
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
UK CCT in Gastroenterology
GMC Specialist Registration
Stable employment history
Up-to-date endoscopy logbook
Strong experience in general gastroenterology and acute on-call care
Demonstrated involvement in clinical governance, service development, and multidisciplinary team engagement
