Consultant Dermatologist (1.0 WTE, 10 PAs)

Our client are seeking a substantive Consultant Dermatologist to join their team of 13 Consultants and an Associate Specialist in Bristol.

About the Service
This is a dedicated facility comprising phototherapy and contact dermatitis suites, treatment areas, skin surgery theatres, clinical rooms and administrative space. They provide general and specialist services including paediatric dermatology, psychodermatology, contact dermatitis, phototherapy, skin lymphoma and teledermatology. Consultants participate in a 1:8 daytime “consultant of the day” rota supporting specialist trainees.
Key Responsibilities
General dermatology outpatient clinics (adult and paediatric depending on interest)
Skin cancer clinics and dermatological surgery (including opportunities aligned to experience)
Teledermatology and Advice & Guidance
Attendance at MDTs (skin cancer MDT, histology review, complex case meetings)
Review of ward patients and contribution to clinical governance, audit and service development
Clinical & Administrative Duties
The post holder will manage patients in line with Trust policies, ensuring timely triage, documentation and adherence to referral-to-treatment standards. Flexibility in managing caseloads and supporting service priorities is essential.
Teaching, Training & Research
As part of a teaching Trust, the Consultant will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education. The post holder is encouraged to participate in research, with support from the Trust’s Research & Development Office and strong links to local universities.
On-Call
Participation in a 1:8 in-hours rota. On-call arrangements follow NHS Terms and Conditions for Consultants (England) 2003.
Professional Requirements
Applicants must hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise and are encouraged to maintain membership with a recognised medical defence organisation. The Trust supports ongoing CPD and CME.
