Consultant in Paediatric Leukaemia & Stem Cell Transplant
Full Time | 10 PAs | Bristol – Upto £140,000 per annum + relocation + welcom bonus. Sponsorship available
Our client, a leading UK paediatric centre of excellence, is seeking an experienced Consultant to join their Paediatric Leukaemia and Stem Cell Transplant service. This is a substantive full-time position within a highly respected multi-disciplinary team delivering paediatric oncology, haematology and stem cell transplant services across the South West and wider UK.
The Role
The successful candidate will work primarily at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, with close collaboration across national haematology referral centres and some outreach clinic commitments. Key responsibilities include:
Inpatient and outpatient care for paediatric leukaemia and SCT patients
Joint delivery of acute and long-term SCT follow-up clinics, including endocrine MDT clinics
Participation in the 1:5 ward attending rota for leukaemia and SCT inpatients
Contribution to regional and local leukaemia clinics
Daytime and out-of-hours on-call for paediatric malignant haematology, oncology and BMT (1:10 rota)
Coordination and oversight of pre-SCT pathways
This role is ideally suited to candidates trained in Haematology and/or Paediatric Stem Cell Transplant, including experience in transplants for benign and malignant haematological conditions.
Clinical Governance & Leadership
The post holder will contribute fully to audit, governance, and service development, working in alignment with Trust policies on documentation, referral-to-treatment standards and inpatient/outpatient pathways.
Teaching, Research & Development
As part of a major teaching Trust, the Consultant will support medical student teaching and may contribute to wider professional education. The service has a strong research portfolio, with opportunities to participate in and lead clinical research projects supported by a well-established R&D infrastructure and university partnerships.
Professional Requirements
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
Inclusion on the Specialist Register (or within six months of CCT/CESR)
Haematology registration or Paediatrics with substantial malignant allogeneic SCT experience (highly desirable)
Membership of a recognised medical defence organisation
